Last week, my best friend suffered a near-fatal internal hemorrhage. He was saved by surgeons in London who rapidly intervened and by the provision of donated blood. Hard to keep one’s cool. For those of you who know the Bolus Theory, unfortunately, this accident falls into two categories, an arterial dissection caused by considerable blood vessel wall damage combined with high blood pressure (aneurysm), and/or a perforation caused by a membrane necrosis (ulcer). Hard to tell if that was done by one single inadvertent IV injection or several, likely repetition helped…

My friend is at risk of arteriosclerosis1, simply because swathes of endothelial cells might have died both during the failed injection and during his hemorrhage. Arteriosclerosis is the third mechanism of harm outlined in the Bolus Theory (see 3 below), I have been thinking about ways to try to help him, to help my own sister as well as many of you.

But what is going on in Arteriosclerosis? And what can be done about it?
