Many criticize Amazon for disintermediating small bookshops. I understand and respect that perspective. However, without Amazon, “The Needle’s Secret” would not have been published, or would be published leaving the author with a mere 5% or less of the value, a truly unfair deal for the author. In my honest opinion as an author, Amazon deserves a great deal of more respect and appreciation for empowering authors, for enabling distinct work to come to the world and for sharing the value equitably.
